I Am Taking a Finance Break
It has been a couple of weeks since my last post so I would think that it is time for me to write something…
I am going to get straight to the point. The reason why I had been inactive is because I haven’t been feeling very motivated as of lately.
There could be multiple reasons for this but I am not going to bore you with the details. I will not speculate as to how long I will be on a “break” as it could range from just next week to the end of the summer. In any case, I will still be posting weekly to keep you guys updated but do not expect any hard-core finance stuff until then.
For those who are interested, here is what I have been up to lately:
Is there more to life than just money?
This has been the question that I’ve been pondering lately.
Although finance is extremely important and I am committed to my Million Endeavour, there are other aspects in life that I feel like I need to work on.
For one thing, I think that I will be looking to improve my dating life at the same time I work on my finances. I haven’t had much experience in dating and it is something that I would like to look into.
Personally, I value happiness and it is something that I will strive to achieve starting today. To be honest, I am unsure whether reaching that one million will bring me the fulfillment in life that I seek. I believe that I should work on being happy right now instead of waiting for it to come in the future.
As it stands right now, I will need to take some time to evaluate the steps that I have to take to achieve that happiness.
Sometimes a break can be good
I see this break that I am taking as a way to recharge myself. I intend to come back fully rested with a new found motivation of reaching my goals.
Aside from my watching TV more and playing video games, I am also working hard on my finance app. The challenges that comes from coding the app is keeping me interested in completing the project. I would say that I am about 50% completed.
I should also note that I have no cash position in my stock portfolio at the moment. Most of my money are invested in companies that appear to have sunk deep into the red. I am currently down $3,000 overall and am left with no other option but to sit and wait for recovery.
In the mean time, I am going to rest up, keep my life in perspective and take it one step at a time. Hopefully when my life becomes clearer to me, I will be back to my usual motivated self.
When a break is needed, take a break.
I like the thinking you have on happiness vs money.
Thank you amber tree!
Indeed, I wonder whether when I achieve financial freedom if i’d be happy or miserable.
Good luck to you!
Happiness and health are way more important than Finance!
Best wishes.
Definitely DFS!
Happiness and health first, finance as a caking on top. 🙂
I have had similar feelings on my blog as well. I was highly motivated to post twice a week, but lately it’s been tough to keep that pace up. Especially so when I dont make any money from my blog. I agree with you. Hobbies are only useful as long as they don’t hinder the more important parts of our lives. Good luck in dating 😉
I’m not taking a break from blogging per say. I will still try to post at least once a week. Million Endeavour is almost 2 years old. 🙂
Thank you Mr. Purpose!
It is your blog and your life. Do what’s best for you 🙂
Good luck with the dating!
Tristan
Thanks Tristan! Finding the right person can be quite difficult. I want to get that part of my life sorted out. I’m not exactly young anymore!!!
Maybe you could change the meaning of the blog. Your endeavor to find your one in a million partner 🙂
Tristan
Yup. Break is very important to reenergizze to keep pushing toward the goals you have set. Good luck in dating!! 🙂
Thank you very much BSR! Will try to get back into my motivated self soon!
Hey Jeff! Your post caught my eye, especially this line: “To be honest, I am unsure whether reaching that one million will bring me the fulfillment in life that I seek.”
I would say that the money alone will absolutely not bring fulfillment. It might sound cliche, but instead, think about what the money would allow you to do… if that doesn’t excite you (and there’s nothing wrong if it doesn’t!), then it’s okay to consider other avenues.
Definitely postponing happiness now for possible happiness later is a losing proposition – I hope you are able to recharge!
Definitely Dave. Finances is important but it shouldn’t be everything in life. 🙂 Thanks for dropping by.
Enjoy your break and good luck in dating!
Thank you Tawcan!
