Million Endeavour Update September 2014
Hello and welcome to my Million Endeavour update for the month of September!
I know it has been a while since I have posted anything but I feel like it is about time that I get my blog going once again. However, before I get right into my net-worth, I would first like to catch up on what I have been doing the last few months.
Truth be told, I have not made much progress towards my journey to financial freedom. Long story short, I have been grinding away at work and that has left me with barely any energy to do other things. With that being said, I am also glad to say that I am no longer sitting in negative net worth.
In other areas of my financial journey, I have also revamped my stock portfolio and I plan to post an update on that soon. For the time being, here are my current numbers:
Total Assets: $23,900
- Chequing: $1,500
- Savings: $300
- TFSA (Discount Brokerage): $22,100
Total Liabilities: $19,100
- Student Loans: $18,500 ($300 for 3 months + Interest)
Total Net-Worth: $5400
Here are some side notes to my numbers:
Breaking into Positive Net Worth
The biggest breakthrough since the last update on Million Endeavour is that I am no longer in negative net-worth. I consider this a big step towards my journey to financial freedom!
TFSA and Stock Portfolio
Currently, I am still building my stock portfolio in my TFSA. I have completely revamped my portfolio since my last update and have learned to evaluate stocks more closely before investing in it. My goal is to strive for a portfolio that returns about 8% to 10% annually.
Student Loan Interest
Now that my income is higher, I am no longer eligible to apply for interest free loan from the government. As a result, the interest will start piling up again. However, I have no intention of repaying my loan in one big lump sum. I will still make the minimum payment required for the time being.
Investing in Property 1
Right now, I am currently saving up some money to invest into my first property. My plan is get into the real estate game some time by 2015.
So that’s it for now. As to where I go from here, keep following Million Endeavour for updates on how I plan to improve my stock portfolio and where I stand in real estate investing. Hopefully this will provide some inspiration in your financial journey. Until next time!
